Certis Europe and Ceradis Sign Exclusive Distribution Agreement for CeraSulfur

 In News

Utrecht and Wageningen, the Netherlands, August 27, 2021 – Cooperation aims to bring Ceradis’ unique bio-sulfur fungicide to more countries by partnering with Certis Europe.

Certis Europe and Ceradis Crop Protection B.V. announced that they have entered into an exclusive distribution agreement to distribute Ceradis’ new, innovative bio-sulfur fungicide CeraSulfur in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Certis Europe is a leading biorational company in Europe with experienced teams working across Central and Eastern European countries in support of farmers and growers. Its’ initial focus will be in implementing CeraSulfur in spray programs to control powdery mildew on grapes and Septoria on wheat.

CeraSulfur SC is a groundbreaking product, the first sulfur fungicide derived from agricultural sources. The sulfur is made by bacteria that turn hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a byproduct of biogas production, into elemental sulfur. With the origin of the process being farm waste, this organic and circular (“farm to farm”) sulfur has a different chemical structure and a smaller particle size, making it more effective than conventional sulfur. It also has a hydrophilic nature as opposed to conventional sulfur, which is hydrophobic, making it far easier to handle and combine with other products. In summary, CeraSulfur offers the grower no dust, less residue, great mixability, easy tank cleaning as well as a lower sulfur quantity needed for same efficacy application. This unique and patented product was awarded the Bronze Medal at the prestigious 2020 Sival Innovation Competition in France.

“We are proud to bring innovation to one of crop protection’s oldest active ingredients, Sulfur. We see a strong interest in CeraSulfur. After launching in France and Italy, we have recently added more countries and more distributors. Now, we look forward to working with Certis Europe to ensure a successful launch of CeraSulfur in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia and to potentially add more countries and products to our cooperation.” states Willem-Jan Meulemeesters, CEO of Ceradis.

“CeraSulfur is an innovative product that meets the trend in conventional and organic farming to use active ingredients from sustainable sources and production and has proved its efficacy in field trials. We are very pleased to collaborate with Ceradis and work with them to help realise our vision for the future of crop protection in Europe” says Pedro Michelin, Portfolio Product Manager of Certis Europe.

About Ceradis:

Ceradis develops and sells innovative environmental-friendly products for plant nutrition & crop protection. We were founded as spin off from Wageningen University & Research (Netherlands). We have developed bio fungicides based on macro-organisms or natural products. We have also developed and patented (biological) formulation additives that boost the efficacy of existing Active Ingredients. For chemical Active Ingredients this results in a reduced rate of chemicals use per hectare of farmland and lower residues on the crop, making them more environmentally friendly. For biological Active Ingredients, this can enhance their performance or lower the required dose rate. Ceradis has four technology platforms, on the basis of which it develops products. Some of our products are already successfully being used by farmers for several years. For more information, visit us at www.ceradis.com and follow us at LinkedIn.
